When the device is immersed in the pool, the integrated measuring chamber is filled with water, a reagent tablet is added to obtain a typical coloration of the parameter, the color is measured photometrically and the value is shown on the digital display.
The electronic photometer is able to measure five parameters consecutively within a few minutes: pH value, free chlorine, total chlorine, alkalinity and chlorine stabilizer (isocyanuric acid), and display the result with a numerical value.
